Building Stronger Language Skills: Key Stage 2 - Upper Primary

This Key Stage 2 English as a Second Language (ESL) class helps students ages 9 - 11 years to develop their English skills further in a fun and supportive environment. It follows the British curriculum, focusing on spoken language, reading, and writing:

  • Focus on Communication: Activities such as games, discussions, and presentations encourage active participation and help students build confidence in speaking English in a safe space.
  • Vocabulary Building: Lessons introduce new words through pictures, real-life examples, and interactive exercises. Students learn to use them in everyday situations.
  • Reading Comprehension: Age-appropriate texts with visuals and clear language help students develop reading fluency and understand different text types.
  • Writing Skills: Students practice writing sentences, paragraphs, and short stories, focusing on grammar, punctuation, and spelling in a scaffolded approach.
  • Cultural Awareness: The curriculum incorporates diverse themes and characters, promoting understanding and appreciation of different cultures.

This ESL class empowers students to participate fully in mainstream lessons and prepares them for success in Key Stage 3 and beyond.

Questions

Before you decide

How does the weekly subscription work?
You are charged £20.00 a week, 24 hours before each class, for as long as you stay in the group. There is no term to pay for up front and no joining fee — and nothing at all is taken until after your free first class.
How many students are in a class?
Never more than 15. The cap is what lets the tutor hear from every student every week rather than teaching at a screen full of names.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. Your first class on TutorTech is a free trial: you attend the full lesson, and the first weekly payment is only taken 24 hours before the second class. Cancel before then and nothing is charged. It is one free class per family, across classes and 1:1 tuition.
What happens if we miss a week?
Pause the subscription from your account more than 24 hours before the class and that week is not charged. Your place in the group is held while you are paused, and you resume from the same page when you are back.
How do I cancel?
Cancelling during the free trial costs nothing. After weekly payments have started, cancellation needs two weeks’ notice — the full terms are in the payment and cancellation policy linked from checkout.
How is a class different to a course?
A course is recorded, bought once and taken at your own pace. A class is live at a fixed time each week, paid weekly, with a tutor who can answer your child in the moment. Many families use both.
Who teaches it?
Gavi. Their identity and qualifications are checked by TutorTech before a class goes on sale, and their profile is linked from this page.
Where do I manage it later?
In your TutorTech account, under your classes — the next lesson, the join link, and the pause and resume controls are all there.

Every group is full — be first to hear when one opens.

Join the waiting list from the calendar and you will be told the moment a place is released.
